Freddie Mac is a leading organization in the housing finance system, making home possible for one in four home borrowers. As a Network Services Engineering Director Lead, you will play a critical role in building a better housing finance system and contributing to a team that helps make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Director of End User Network Services to lead the modernization and automation of end user network services. This dual role involves being the service owner and engineering leader, with direct responsibility for all network security services and their lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in product management and technical expertise in network security technologies, with a strong product and engineering mindset. They will collaborate with IT, Operations, End User Support, and software engineering teams to integrate end user technologies into every layer while keeping user experience as a key function of the solution.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage a team of engineers while ensuring meeting the requirements of the product owner.
  • Product Leadership:
    • Build an End User Network services product vision and blend the needs from enterprise-wide technical & business groups into a product roadmap.
    • Lead the creation of network security services and the consumption of those services.
    • Monitor and improve the delivery and operations of the services.
  • Technical Leadership and Engineering Management:
    • Lead, design and collaborate with architecture teams to align with end user network services architecture standards.
    • Lead a team of engineers focused on delivering functional blueprints based on patterns approved by and collaborated with Infrastructure Architects.
    • Lead development of workflows and automate them.
    • Manage deliverables to meet expected deadlines.
    • Mentor Engineers to ensure engagement and advancement of the overall Team.
    • Build self-service capabilities for the portfolio of services.
    • Develop best practices for engineering and deploying services.
  • Create and maintain a process and automation library:
    • Always start from a view of automating as much of the overall process as possible.
    • On a continuous basis review tasks, increase efficiency, and mark tasks for automation/transfer to delivery team.
    • Utilize and drive project milestones through Jira to ensure clear communication/expectations with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Engineering-Driven Compliance & Best Practices:
    • Ensure solutions align with regulatory and compliance requirements – specifically NIST, while maintaining scalability to meet evolving business needs.
    • Engineer solutions with the understanding FM is a highly regulated firm which requires control validation by non-technical team members.
    • Utilize a problem-solving approach to design solutions that address immediate risks and future-proof network defenses against emerging threats.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with IT, Operations, End User Support, and software engineering teams to integrate end user technologies into every layer while keeping user experience as a key function of the solution.
    • Work closely with senior leadership on the selection, design and delivery blueprint of new network security technologies and tools to address evolving threat landscape.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT, Advanced degree preferred. With 12-15+ years of overall experience and 5+ years of relevant large-scale enterprise transformation experience related to end user network services modernization required, you will be able to effectively lead a team of engineers and contribute to the development of end user network services. Experience working directly with engineers to define and plan new features for consumption is also essential.

A highly motivated and energetic self-starter with solid organizational and time management skills, excellent communication, leadership and relationship management skills, and ability to succinctly present sophisticated subject matter, is required. Technical leadership with knowledge of both legacy and modern cloud-based distributed systems is also necessary.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $199,000 - $299,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
