Position Overview
  • A healthcare facility is seeking a qualified GI/Endoscopy Technician for a travel position.
  • Typical Patient Cases: General and advanced gastrointestinal cases including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), and Bravo capsule monitoring.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Proof of vaccination is required or a declination form accompanied by supporting documentation from a clergy member or medical doctor.
Job Specifications
  • Applicants must not have worked in the state for the previous year as a permanent staff member and should not currently hold a position at an acute care facility in the state.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience and possess an active BLS certification.
Work Schedule
  • Standard shifts are generally from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with flexibility in start and end times based on patient case volumes.
  • Support on Sundays for the primary technician on call will be required on a rotational basis.
  • Self-scheduling is encouraged, with shifts typically following the aforementioned hours.
  • Weekend Duties: Backup support on Sundays for the primary technician on call, as per rotation.
  • Holiday Duties: None required.
  • Occasional late stays may be necessary for the final cases of the day, with a call response time of 30 minutes.
Unit Specific Information
  • Department: Endoscopy Tech
  • Facility Capacity: 2 procedure rooms, 15 pre/post-operative beds
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 2 patients
  • Essential Skills: Technicians must demonstrate meticulous high-level disinfection skills and solid general GI skills for various procedures.
Additional Information
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience required, ideally within the last six months.
  • Tele/Monitor Technicians are not present in this unit, and RNs are not required to interpret their own telemetry strips.
  • Charge Nurse may take on assignments as needed.
  • No Nurse Aides are available in this unit.
  • Anesthesia is responsible for all endoscopic procedures.
  • Dress Code: Hospital-provided scrubs (blue).
  • Orientation: Department-specific orientation will be provided.
  • Notes: High volume of advanced GI cases, approximately 20 cases per day; preferred skills include advanced GI techniques for EUS, EBUS, ERCP, and stone management.
