The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the surgical team, ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures within the operating room. This position involves preparing surgical cases by establishing and maintaining a sterile environment, as well as assisting surgeons by passing instruments, supplies, and medications during operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are ready for surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical process.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
- Perform various technical tasks related to the maintenance of surgical supplies.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED: Preferred
- Associate's or Technical Degree in a related field: Preferred
- Experience as a scrub technician: Preferred
- Prior experience in an operating room setting or completion of a training course: Preferred
Certifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technician: Preferred
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
