Key Responsibilities:Provide educational support to nursing personnel to reinforce fundamental nursing practices. Conduct training sessions for nursing units on new technologies, procedures, and policies. Assist in orienting new staff members to the unit. Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends may be required to accommodate a 24/7 workforce.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
Candidates must possess a solid understanding of nursing principles and theories, with skills in applying adult learning methodologies, assessment, and evaluation techniques. Proficiency in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and Virginia nursing licensure regulations is essential.
Strong oral and written communication abilities, project management expertise, time management skills, organizational capabilities, training proficiency, customer service orientation, and effective follow-up skills are required. Candidates should demonstrate critical thinking, creativity, and initiative in process improvement. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are crucial, along with being a collaborative team member.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Operating Room setting within an acute care environment is necessary. Teaching experience is preferred, as this role will involve conducting Surgical Services Orientation.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP certification is required, with the possibility of needing ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications based on specific unit requirements.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments is mandatory. Proficiency in keyboarding and computer literacy is required for electronic medical record systems. Candidates must be able to fulfill essential job functions.
