Job Summary

The Retort Operator is a critical role within Baxters North America Inc, responsible for overseeing the cooking process to ensure the highest quality of products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recipe Management: Access and load menus on a LCD screen to select the appropriate recipe for the retort oven.
  • Tray Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload trays of food into the retort oven, adhering to established protocols.
  • Scheduling and Workload Management: Schedule workload to ensure efficient use of the retort oven, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Cooking Process Oversight: Monitor the cooking process, adjusting parameters as needed to ensure optimal sterilization and quality.
  • Logistics and Record-Keeping: Accurately log batch start and stop times, loading numbers, and tray counts for computer entry and quality control purposes.
  • Quality Control: Verify log sheets throughout the shift and at the end of the shift for accuracy, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as outlined in the SWES and/or training register, as assigned by management.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The Retort Operator will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, exposed to extreme temperatures, vibrations, and potential fumes or airborne particles. The role requires standing and/or walking for extended periods, with frequent movement and examination of objects at varying heights.

Education and Experience

A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, the successful candidate must meet the required job-specific training outlined in the Training Register.
