Job Overview

The role of a Marine Pilot at Cooper Marine involves overseeing the safe and effective operations of the crew, vessel, and tow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: As the senior personnel on board, the Pilot ensures that the crew adheres to company policies, regulations, and cultural standards.
  • Incident Coordination: Collaborate with shoreside management and the Coast Guard regarding all reportable incidents.
  • Safety Drills: Conduct monthly safety drills and meetings in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Training: Instruct the crew on their responsibilities and promote continuous improvement aimed at achieving zero safety incidents.
  • Security Oversight: Act as the Vessel Security Officer.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all requirements of the company's Towing Safety Management System.
  • Performance Evaluation: Engage in crew management and participate in performance assessments.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a TWIC Card.
  • Must hold a USCG Master/Mate of Towing Vessels license with the appropriate endorsements.
  • Must fulfill USCG physical examination criteria.
