We are seeking a skilled Mold Fabricator to join our team at U.S. Farathane. As a Mold Fabricator, you will be responsible for building and repairing thermoplastic and thermoset injection molds to company standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with plastic injection molds and be proficient in operating various machine shop equipment. You will work closely with designers, programmers, and assemblers to produce and repair molds and dies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting tool problems and performing conventional machining tasks such as lathe work, milling, and surface grinding.
  • Operating all in-house machine shop equipment to rework worn or damaged tooling and fabricate simple tooling.
  • Determining the best methods and procedures to identify and correct mold defects.
  • Working with apprentices to upgrade their skill levels and providing guidance on tool design, construction techniques, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Reading and interpreting part and mold designs in CAD and using inspection tools such as micrometers and optical comparators.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mold fabrication and repair.
  • Knowledge of plastic processing requirements for molds, including venting, heating, cooling, and polishing.
  • Ability to work in a steady professional manner with little or no supervision required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe operation of hoists, hand trucks, power trucks, and die trucks.
