Job Title: Professional Flight Paramedic

UPMC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Flight Paramedic to join our team at the UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine. As a critical care transport specialist, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients transported by the STAT MedEvac system.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced critical care life support to patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care.
  • Assess, stabilize, and intervene in emergency situations, utilizing skills and competencies necessary to provide patient care in any environment.
  • Document patient information, including assessment, interventions, and other pertinent details, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collect and process demographic, medical necessity, and other necessary billing information.
  • Participate in peer-review driven quality improvement programs to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience at an ALS service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam, including a maximum height/weight restriction of 6-2 and less than or equal to 210 pounds, fitness for duty physical exam, hearing evaluation, and declaration of fitness for duty by the Medical Director.
  • Eligibility to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to any STAT MedEvac base site as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Act 34
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support OR International Trauma Life Support OR Prehospital Trauma Life Support OR Trauma Nursing Core Course
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certified Flight Paramedic (within 2 years of hire)
  • Driver's License
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
  • National Incident Management System Incident Command (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Incident Management System Introduction Course (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Incident Management System Single Resources (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMT-P)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course OR Intl Trauma Life Support OR Adv Trauma Life Support. OR Prehospital Trauma Life Supp (one required within 90 days of hire)
  • United States Passport (within 6 months of hire)
