Job Description

At Middlesex Water Company, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Treatment Assistant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water treatment operations and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of treatment plant flows, pressures, and water storage tank levels.
  2. Perform inspections at all production facilities, including pumps, motors, well houses, chemical feed equipment, treatment equipment, and vessels.
  3. Assist the Plant Operator in operating booster pumps, well fields, auxiliary pumping stations, inter-connections, and isolation and flow reducing valves.
  4. Assist in monitoring and maintaining the water treatment process through the addition and adjustment of water treatment chemicals to meet regulatory requirements.
  5. Perform field testing as required to monitor the treatment process.
  6. Perform general housekeeping and grounds keeping at facilities as assigned.
  7. Perform plant, well field, and distribution system record keeping as assigned.
  8. Perform plant, equipment, and wellfield safety and security checks as assigned.
  9. Assist in responding to plant facility, distribution system alarm, emergencies, and crisis situations through contact with on-call supervision and established emergency and crisis management procedures.
  10. Assist Maintenance and Laboratory staff at the Park Avenue facility as well as the CJO WTP facility as needed.
  11. Available for scheduled after-hours, weekend, holiday on-call, and call-in for non-scheduled emergencies.
  12. Work weekends and holidays as scheduled or needed.
  13. Note: Some mandatory overtime will be required as necessary to maintain facilities operation.
  14. Prepares work requests in WAM as equipment issues or situations arise so they can be repaired.
  15. Performs chemical receiving at designated treatment facilities.
  16. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
  17. Adheres to and promotes the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid T-2 Operator's license desired or the ability to obtain within four years of date of employment.
  • Accredited trade school electrical certification desired.
  • Must maintain a valid Motor Vehicle License.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted or more with assistance, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, grasp, walk, and stand.
  • Work emphasizes walking, standing for extended periods of time, visual acuity, hearing, and speech.
