Job Summary

This position plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents at The Manor at Seneca Hill. As a Certified Nurse Aide, you will assist, encourage, and instruct residents in their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) referencing a comprehensive care plan. Your responsibilities will include providing individual and comprehensive resident care in accordance with the supervision of licensed personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal resident care and treatment according to the specified comprehensive care profile and update files as needed.
  • Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, shampooing, conditioning, shaving, grooming, dressing, mouth and denture care, nail care, and hair care.
  • Assist with preventative skin care, wound care, ostomy, ready-to-use enemas, and other specified treatments as needed.
  • Ensure residents are properly and comfortably clothed at all times, including proper footwear, undergarments, clothing, and outerwear (when needed), and/or a lap blanket (when needed).
  • Assist residents to and from bathrooms, aid in the use of urinals and bedpans, keep incontinent residents clean, dry, and odor-free.
  • Assist residents with meals and meal care (hand washing), assist in transportation to and from the dining area, and monitor and record resident intake.
  • Provide mobility assistance to residents, including transporting, positioning, lifting, turning, and/or moving.
  • Perform intake/outtake care, catheter care, vital signs, ROM, and post-mortem care.
  • Ensure the care of residents' personal laundry and belongings, following correct procedures for taking and recording vital signs.
  • Clean and maintain safe and orderly resident rooms, nursing equipment, and nursing units.
  • Observe residents' physical condition, attitude, reaction, appetite, and behaviors, and report changes or unusual findings to supervisors. Assist in emergencies as needed.
  • Provide physical and emotional comfort and safety to all residents.
  • Practice correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment, such as beds, siderails, scales, hover lifts, bed checks, whirlpool tubs, safety devices, intercoms, call bell systems, gait belts, portable oxygen tanks, oximetry machines, and BG machines.
  • Complete documentation and recording of entries on required flow sheets, consumption records, and other worksheets.
  • Complete resident/unit rounds at the beginning and end of each shift and provide thorough end-of-shift reports to supervisors or charge nurses.
  • Immediately report any change or deviation in resident status to team leaders or supervisors. Identify residents and take immediate appropriate action.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all residents and information obtained.
  • Assist in quality assurance as directed by nurse managers.
  • Review, sign, and implement per instruction all memos related to the nursing department/unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be currently registered in New York State as a Certified Nurses Aide.
  • High school graduate preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Requires the completion of 12 hours in-service education annually.
  • Attends any mandatory training and In-Services.
  • Exposed to infections, odors, and peculiarities in the behavior of aged residents.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling during the workday. Requires pushing beds, wheelchairs, and recliners in excess of approximately 200 pounds with assistance. Requires lifting, carrying, repositioning, and transferring residents who may weigh in excess of 200 pounds.
