**Job Description:**

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating one biomass fired boiler and one 65 MW steam turbine using a Siemens DCS and various PLC operated controls. This will involve ensuring the proper operation of all machinery, following established practices, and referring to operation and service manuals as needed. The operator will also be responsible for monitoring and recording pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption on the operating equipment, identifying and informing appropriate individuals of symptoms requiring maintenance action, and maintaining fuel, hydraulic, coolant, and water levels of engines, boilers, expansion tanks, compressors, pumps, and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluating and maintaining proper operation of all machinery
• Following and promoting standard and established practices, referring to operation and service manuals to evaluate and maintain proper operation of all machinery
• Operating equipment to meet the requirements of district heating and cooling process by ensuring an uninterrupted steam and chilled water supply to the district heating customers
• Providing continuous operations of pump sets
• Monitoring and recording pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption on the operating equipment
• Identifying and informing appropriate individuals of symptoms requiring maintenance action
• Maintaining fuel, hydraulic, coolant, and water levels of engines, boilers, expansion tanks, compressors, pumps, and related equipment
• Services filters, strainers, cooling tower screens, as needed
• Monitors machinery for noise, and vibrations to ensure the safe operating condition of machinery and takes immediate corrective action should unsafe conditions exist
• Reads and interprets information and instructions on material data safety sheets
• Applies knowledge of hand and power tools and general repair knowledge to assist in the maintenance and repair of engines, boilers, compressors, pumps, and all associated equipment
• Cleans and maintains engines, chillers and other equipment and performs general cleaning in the chiller/boiler room area
• Performs water testing
• May be required to obtain a certification to wear a full-face respirator
• Performs and promotes work in a safe manner according to established safety procedures and reports or rectifies any unsafe conditions
• Displays willingness to work in a team environment and follow directions and instructions from members of management
• Must be present and ready to begin working at the designated time
• Must be available to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime, as required
• Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts that include holidays, nights, and weekends
• Must have ability to interface diplomatically with other employees and the public

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent
• 3-5 years' experience in a process-related field such as chemical industry, refinery, heating, generation, or any field that would require demonstrated aptitude for applying skills to an involved or complicated process
• 1-3 years' journeyman level experience in a plant environment with boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, and water treatment
• Preferred: Technical trade school training in one of the skilled trades
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a certification to wear a full-face respirator
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and drawings, and procedures
• Working knowledge of the maintenance of daily plant logs
• Familiar with basic Microsoft Office products
• Must have experience with sound safety practices using hand tools and power equipment related to job assignments
• Able to work rotating-shift assignments to support plant operations
• Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and carry materials up and down stairs with the capacity of lifting 70 pounds
