Job Overview

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The role of a Laborer is crucial in maintaining the workflow on construction sites. Laborers ensure that Masons have a continuous supply of essential materials such as blocks, bricks, mortar, wire, and control joints. They also communicate with Operators and/or Superintendents regarding supply levels to prevent any interruptions in work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare mortar and grout, either manually or with machinery, adhering to established formulas.
  • Set up scaffolding as required for safe access.
  • Utilize power saws to cut materials to precise dimensions for installation.
  • Adjust procedures for moving, mixing, grouting, grinding, polishing, or cleaning materials based on specific installation needs.
  • Assist in the preparation, installation, and repair of block, brick, or stone surfaces.
  • Identify and deliver materials to masons in a systematic manner.
  • Organize and store materials, tools, machines, and equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness of installation surfaces, tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Handle materials such as marble slabs, hoists, or dollies as needed.
  • Remove excess grout or debris from block and brick joints using appropriate tools.
  • Extract damaged blocks or bricks and prepare surfaces for repair using various hand tools.
  • Demonstrate initiative by seeking assistance or clarification on tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
