Key Responsibilities

Overview: In this role, you will leverage your expertise in electrical and instrumentation to develop construction-ready design packages and support the execution of capital projects. You will make informed decisions on engineering challenges and represent the organization in project discussions to address critical inquiries with senior engineers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing instrumentation and process control systems for large-scale industrial facilities.
  • Conducting studies, specifications, and services related to electrical and instrumentation equipment, including control valves, flow meters, and various types of instrumentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with piping standards and selecting appropriate materials for instrumentation specifications.
  • Assisting in the review of instrumentation and electrical aspects of all project packages prior to final construction to guarantee adherence to quality standards.
  • Evaluating project design estimates and scopes for new initiatives.
  • Providing expertise in the design, specification, and selection of instrumentation and control systems, including safety systems and telecommunications.
  • Offering technical mentorship to junior designers and engineers.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation design within the heavy industrial sector.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency in P&I diagrams, loop sheets, and control schematics.
  • Familiarity with NEC and IBC Codes.
  • Experience with vendor equipment specifications and manuals to implement control solutions in an industrial context.
  • Proficient in CAD systems, preferably Microstation.
  • Proven experience in mentoring team members and collaborating with construction personnel.
  • Skilled in developing scopes of work, task analyses, material lists, and project timelines.
  • Preferred experience with 480-volt power distribution systems and related calculations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is conducted in a chemical plant environment, requiring exposure to varying temperature conditions.
  • Personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots will be necessary.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in process areas around the plant site is essential.
