Job Summary

The University of Nebraska Omaha is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Campus Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Public Safety Department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols of university property, including buildings, parking lots, and residence halls, to ensure the safety and security of our community.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and suspicious activity, and provide assistance as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and assist with directions, flat tires, and other requests.
  • Document incidents and prepare reports as required.
  • Collaborate with other department CSOs and police officers to ensure a cohesive and effective security presence on campus.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete CPR, First Aid, AED, PPCT, and other assigned job-specific training.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including day, evening, night, and weekend hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a security or law enforcement role.
  • Knowledge of crisis management and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
