Key Responsibilities:

As a Distribution Design Engineer with Insight Global, you will play a crucial role in upgrading major energy providers' distribution grids. Your primary responsibilities will include scheduling and developing construction plans for project work, creating work packages, and managing the scope of work and schedule. You will also be responsible for owning field work, taking notes, pictures, and measurements, and designing project construction plans using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems. Additionally, you will perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop, and flicker, as well as coordinate protective devices. This is a remote/hybrid role, with approximately two days spent working from home and three days spent traveling to client sites in the Pennsylvania and Rhode Island area.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical or Civil Engineering is required, along with 2-3 years of prior relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company. Strong previous experience with AutoCad or MicroStation Design software is also necessary.
