Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firefighter to join our team at the City of Reno Fire Department. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for providing emergency response services, conducting fire prevention activities, and participating in training and maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to fires and other emergency incidents in a timely and safe manner
  • Conduct fire prevention activities, including inspections and fire safety education
  • Participate in training and maintenance programs to develop and maintain high levels of work knowledge and skills
  • Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus
  • Perform various public information and relations tasks
  • Maintain a clean and orderly fire station and other facilities
  • Assist in completing day-to-day work, including record keeping and map maintenance
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of appointment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two years of current, full-time continuous employment as a Firefighter or higher ranking fire operations personnel with a public fire agency, authority, or department that provides all risk Fire/EMS services and is comparable to the Reno Fire Department as identified by NFPA standards, NFPA 1710
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment
  • Ability to obtain a Nevada Class B Driver's license with an F endorsement within six months of employment
  • Valid Nevada Basic Emergency Medical Technician certification or National Registry Basic Emergency Medical Technician certification
  • Current Nevada Firefighter I and II certifications, or IFSAC Firefighter I and II certifications which meet NFPA standards
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Haz Mat Operations certification that meets NFPA standards
  • Current NWCG S-130 and S-190 certifications
