POSITION SUMMARY:
The faculty member will instruct in the area of expertise, contributing to the undergraduate program's goals.
Responsibilities encompass both theoretical and practical instruction, involvement in curriculum enhancement, securing clinical placements, and providing student guidance.
The ideal candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activities and service commitments that align with their employment status.
This role is accountable to the Director of Graduate Programs, ensuring alignment with the University and SON objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate effective learning experiences, deliver quality instruction, and assess student performance across all assigned courses, adhering to the established course outlines.
The standard instructional load for full-time faculty is twenty-four (24) load hours annually for 9-month faculty.Occasionally, faculty may receive a reduced teaching load to fulfill additional responsibilities within the school.
Instructional loads will be assigned based on the position's requirements, SONHS needs, and university workload policies.
Collaborate in the development of course materials, including syllabi, handouts, lectures, and presentations. Ensure that all course documentation is submitted to the Director of Graduate Programs each semester. Teach courses in accordance with the University catalog and established standards.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and academic progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and examinations leading to final grades.
Assign and communicate grades following University protocols. Keep course and student records compliant with FERPA regulations and submit grades by deadlines.Supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical and field settings as appropriate.
Attend all scheduled classes and responsibilities, including office hours and meetings. Maintain accessible hours on campus to facilitate student interaction and collaboration with faculty and staff. Participate in program-level learning assessments, which include defining learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, and recommending improvements for student learning. Contribute to the development and monitoring of SONHS strategic plans.Work collaboratively with faculty to enhance the quality of instruction, scholarship, and public service initiatives.
Engage in the formulation and execution of academic policies and principles consistent with the school's philosophy.
Participate in faculty evaluation processes and stay current in the academic discipline, including maintaining necessary licensure and certifications. Engage in professional development activities and serve on committees as required. Attend relevant meetings and ceremonies pertinent to the discipline. Mentor new faculty members and assist in their orientation as needed. Adhere to University and SONHS policies and ensure student evaluations are conducted at the end of each semester.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Doctorate Degree in Nursing is mandatory; a Terminal Degree is preferred. Experience in graduate education is advantageous; proficiency in online education is a plus.
Licensing and Certifications:
Candidates must be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky. Selected candidates must complete the Kentucky Registered Nurse licensure process prior to appointment. BLS and/or other resuscitation training as required by clinical partners.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically conducted in an office environment with minimal physical demands and limited exposure to risk. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply.
