Early Head Start Teacher Role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Early Head Start Team in carrying out daily lesson plans and center activities.
  • Provide supervision and instruction to up to 8 children per assigned classroom.
  • Counsel parents on their children's academic, personal, and social skills development.
  • Collaborate with Child Development Staff to identify and meet each child's needs.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, ensuring children's security and well-being.
  • Work closely with Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities Coordinators to ensure children receive necessary screenings and support.
  • Recruit parents as classroom volunteers and coordinate with Comprehensive Services for in-kind support.
  • Collaborate with Nutrition Specialists and Coordinators to promote healthy practices.
  • Mandated reporter of suspected cases of Child Abuse and Neglect.

We seek candidates with experience in teaching or working with low-income families. Essential qualifications include excellent oral and written communication skills, basic computer operation knowledge, and a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass background checks are also required.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, and stooping movements within the classroom. Agility to move around furniture and materials. Occasional driving to trainings.
