Job Responsibilities
- Assist residents in ALFs, SNFs, and other post-acute facilities
- Help residents with mobility, personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Monitor residents throughout the shift and alert the broader nursing team to any concerns
- Check temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs, and report any abnormal events to supervising staff
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by changing linens and helping to clean residents' rooms, etc.
- Move residents to and from wheelchairs, beds, and exam tables
- Offer companionship and a compassionate, engaged ear to residents and their loved ones
- Understand how to communicate with visitors, family members, and staff
- Be accountable to follow and adhere to resident care plans
Qualifications and Skills
- Current Connecticut Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and nursing care procedures
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Effective organizational skills and communication skills
- Appropriate bedside manner
