Position Overview

This role entails delivering direct nursing care to individuals in a boarding school health service environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Initiate nursing interventions and provide holistic care addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of patients and their families.
  2. Uphold patient dignity and honor cultural variances.
  3. Effectively triage situations promptly and efficiently.
  4. Organize and manage all facets of patient care to ensure top-tier health services and exceptional customer service.
  5. Maintain composure and make informed nursing decisions in emergency scenarios.
  6. Consult with supervisors in complex situations requiring additional insights.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversee the comprehensive management of patients enrolled at the educational institution.
  2. Administer and document both prescription and over-the-counter medications, coordinating refills and monitoring adherence.
  3. Assess and triage students presenting with medical or behavioral health concerns.
  4. Manage the care of students in the school's health facility.
  5. Collaborate with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to set individualized health objectives that enhance patient outcomes.
  6. Support patients in achieving their health goals within the boarding school context.
  7. Address acute and chronic care needs, reviewing electronic health record reminders and providing education to patients.
  8. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, promoting decision-making, independence, and self-care.
  9. Utilize problem-solving skills to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers efficiently.
  10. Coordinate patient referrals within the organization and external facilities, ensuring effective communication regarding patient travel.
  11. Maintain accurate referral records for provider review and proactively address any barriers to care.

Nursing Duties:

  1. Perform nursing responsibilities across various roles, including assessment, documentation, education, and administering medications and therapies.
  2. Complete annual competencies, including safety and infection control training.
  3. Ensure a clean and safe working environment, maintaining adequate supplies and reporting any equipment issues.
  4. Collaborate effectively with team members across departments to foster a supportive work environment.
  5. Engage in departmental improvement initiatives.
  6. Provide both basic and advanced nursing care under supervision, utilizing the nursing process.
  7. Maintain clinical records, documenting vital signs, patient observations, medications, and treatments.
  8. Perform unit support activities, including ordering and scheduling as assigned.
