Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled InSite Chemist to join our team at Clean Harbors. As a key member of our InSite program, you will be responsible for providing hazardous waste management services to our customers in the Camarillo and Valley areas.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct waste pickups at laboratories as needed, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Prepare and manage computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications.
- Identify and handle unknown laboratory chemicals, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
- Perform regular inspections of storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping and compliance with regulations.
- Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal, maximizing efficiency and maintaining compliance.
- Sample and profile new waste streams or materials requiring analytical testing.
- Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork and utilize CHOICE waste management software to manage waste programs effectively.
- Assign proper waste codes to materials designated for disposal and maintain accurate waste profile data.
- Evaluate specialty waste materials, such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds, and determine disposal options.
- Minimum 2 years of college or specialized training in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in hazardous waste management or a related field.
- 40 Hour OSHA Training, Forklift Training and certification, Reactive Materials certification, DOT Training, and CleanPack Chemist Training Course.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with hazardous materials endorsement (preferred).
- Knowledge of RCRA requirements and regulations.
- Understanding of chemicals and background knowledge.
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications.
This role requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Ability to drive a vehicle and operate a forklift is also required.
