Medical Billing Specialist

The Medical Billing Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the revenue cycle at JWCH Institute. This position is responsible for reviewing patient encounters, investigating discrepancies, and processing claims for various payer sources. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement, payment posting, and revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
Review patient encounters for discrepancies and ensure billing accuracy
Investigate and resolve issues related to eligibility, documentation, coding, procedures, and diagnoses
Adhere to payer-specific guidelines and research coverage and non-coverage for all payer types
Post payments accurately for various payers and run reports to verify entries
Regularly review accounts to identify potential rebills, adjustments, or write-offs
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Certification
Billing Certificate
At least 1 year of Medical billing and collection experience in a Medical office setting
Experience with Medicare, Medi-cal, Cross over insurances, HMO, County and Sliding Fee Discount billing and collection
Typing and computer proficiency skills
Flexible with schedule, willing to travel to multiple sites as needed
Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payment posting, and revenue cycle management
Excellent attention to detail with a focus on minimizing errors in billing processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Effective communication skills for working with administrators, the billing team, and management
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines consistently
Preferred:
Bi-lingual Spanish and English
Microsoft Excel experience
