Position Overview

Role Summary

The Large Equipment Assembler is responsible for coordinating all necessary activities to effectively layout work and set up the appropriate machinery or equipment to meet assembly demands and customer specifications. This role emphasizes the efficient use of resources to minimize waste, materials, and labor costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze blueprints accurately.
  • Utilize power tools and machinery including band saws, table saws, manual hand brakes, drills, and grinders.
  • Work with various materials such as felt insulation, ceramics, graphite, carbon fiber, molybdenum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Document work processes, material usage, and any issues encountered during assembly.
  • Maintain clear communication with team leaders and supervisors.
  • Ensure the work area is organized, clean, and safe on a daily basis.
  • Complete tasks with minimal supervision while ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting written and verbal instructions, including blueprints.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from management and peers.
  • Competent in basic arithmetic operations and understanding of geometry concepts.
  • Capable of following instructions provided in various formats including written, oral, and diagrams.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • At least 1 year of relevant assembly experience or equivalent education and training.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience operating a forklift is preferred.
  • Certification in forklift and overhead crane operation is advantageous.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The demands of this position require the employee to:

  1. Stand for up to 10 hours daily.
  2. Use hands for handling, feeling, and reaching.
  3. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch.
  4. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  5. Maintain close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  6. Be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and loud noise levels.
  7. Wear eye and foot protection at all times.
