Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering support for the wholesale electricity market in Texas.
- Monitor system conditions and assess market performance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on issues related to the wholesale market framework.
- Ensure market consistency and stability.
- Develop skills and knowledge to deliver engineering and analytical support for wholesale market and grid operations.
- Prepare and validate models of electric power systems.
- Apply electricity market theory to analyze market behavior and outcomes.
- Explore data analysis methods to enhance analytical tools.
- Generate and maintain market reports as per requests and protocols.
- Assist management and senior experts in providing technical support to regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders.
- Review and test proposed changes to wholesale market systems and design.
- Work closely with Market Participants to resolve operational issues.
- Gain knowledge of demand response services managed by ERCOT to support Market Participant needs.
- Monitor and analyze various demand response services.
- Learn ERCOT procedures and business functions related to wholesale market and grid operations.
- Participate in stakeholder, industry, and regulatory meetings under management's guidance.
- Recommend design modifications and enhancements based on market analysis.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of wholesale market and grid operations to assist Market Participants.
- Anticipate and address issues within the wholesale market and grid operations.
- Propose new solutions for data acquisition and reporting.
- Support management and senior experts in technical assistance to regulatory bodies and industry groups.
- Engage in stakeholder meetings and provide input as needed.
- Utilize judgment to resolve Market Participant disputes.
- Address inquiries from Market Participants regarding daily market and grid operations.
- Work independently while escalating issues to supervisors when necessary.
- Build strong relationships with other internal departments.
- Level 2: Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements.
- Level 3: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements.
- Knowledge of demand response.
- Experience with electrical distribution systems and/or Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
- Experience in facilitating revisions to regulatory documents.
- Conducting audits of protocols and reporting functions.
- Proficient in business applications such as SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Required).
- Equivalent knowledge through a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Employees are expected to work on-site a minimum of 2 days per week, with flexible scheduling based on business needs.
- Remote work must be conducted from a Texas residence.
- Employees may choose to work on-site more frequently if desired.
