Position Overview: Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Environmental Strategy Coordination:
  • Oversee the execution and upkeep of environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards across all jurisdictions in the Americas.
  • Manage the environmental management system (including ISO14001 where applicable) for the Americas region.
  • Facilitate the expansion of ISO 14001 implementation as necessary.
  • Oversee all internal and external environmental audits, investigations, and related action plans.
  • Coordinate responses to significant environmental incidents and investigations, ensuring appropriate action and disclosure plans are in place.
  • Implement and support environmental programs for RS Americas, Inc. and associated operations.
  1. Advancing Sustainability Goals:
  • Lead the development, execution, and reporting of sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction strategies aligned with the Group's ESG objectives and 2030 targets.
  • Collaborate with facilities and operations teams to achieve site-specific carbon and energy reduction goals.
  • Manage large-scale decarbonization projects, such as transitioning to low carbon HVAC systems or solar energy solutions.
  • Support supply chain teams in achieving sustainable packaging and transportation objectives.
  • Provide guidance to meet broader sustainability goals related to customers, suppliers, and products, contributing to a net zero value chain by 2050.
  1. Sustainability Performance Management:
  • Oversee the collection and reporting of environmental data across all sites in the Americas.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual environmental reporting and assurance processes.
  • Establish robust environmental data management systems in new acquisitions, aligning with the Group's 2030 ESG goals.
  • Engage with corporate stakeholders to communicate progress and future plans regarding environmental initiatives.
  1. Health & Safety Leadership:
  • Ensure compliance with safety legislation and adherence to safety policies and practices through regular inspections.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop policies and procedures in line with best practices.
  • Facilitate monthly management review forums to assess compliance performance and recommend procedural changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to drive safety performance and coordinate with regional EH&S managers.
  • Develop training programs to enhance awareness of compliance requirements among staff.
  • Mentor Environmental, Health & Safety Advisors to build their expertise and confidence.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience managing environmental, sustainability, and health and safety programs in complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Proven track record in implementing management systems and ensuring compliance.
  • Strong background in coordinating environmental and safety reporting across multiple sites.
  • Experience in managing critical environmental activities and incidents.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing abilities.
  • Project management skills related to capital, systems, and personnel.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Awareness of cultural environments and adaptability in approach.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability and organizational change.
  • Strong work ethic and desire for continuous improvement.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience in relevant industries such as industrial, distribution, electronics, or manufacturing.
  • Formal environmental qualifications, preferably with chartered status.
