We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal, Engineer to join our team at Southern Company Gas. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing a staff responsible for creating and maintaining hydraulic models of natural gas distribution and transmission systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage resources and priorities to ensure model deliverables are met.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by periodically assessing business needs against current resources and service level achievements for better results.
  • Collaborate with System Operations, IT, Gas Control, Land Management, Customer Development, Marketing, Rate, Engineering Design, System Operations, and Field Operations to ensure input data are accurate and current.
  • Provide quality control of the hydraulic model and GIS mapping system.
  • Perform validation checks to determine if the model performs in concert with field conditions.
Requirements
  • BA/BS Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in engineering, technology, or GIS role.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) or comparable system - intermediate proficiency.
  • MS Excel, Word, and Access – intermediate proficiency.
