Position Overview:
This announcement serves to recruit qualified Speech Language Pathologists to deliver essential services to students across various educational institutions within the Windward District, as designated by the District Office.

Position Levels:
The roles available are primarily for Speech Language Pathologist IV, with consideration for applicants at the Speech Language Pathologist II level in case of recruitment challenges.

Compensation Details:
New external candidates will be positioned at the starting step of the salary scale. However, placements above this initial step may be granted based on unique qualifications, critical needs of the role, availability of funds, and other pertinent factors, pending prior approval. Current employees of the Hawaii State Department of Education will be assigned to the salary scale in accordance with departmental regulations.

Salary Structure:
- Speech Language Pathologist II, SR-18: $5,830.19 per month
- Speech Language Pathologist III, SR-20: $6,322.81 per month
- Speech Language Pathologist IV, SR-22: $6,697.32 per month

Key Responsibilities:
- Select and implement specific assessment methods to evaluate student communication capabilities.
- Conduct thorough analyses of activities and environments to identify barriers affecting communicative performance.
- Document, interpret, and communicate assessment findings effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to develop programming within established timelines.
- Provide tailored speech-language services to meet the distinct needs of students, updating team members on progress and recommending service adjustments as necessary.

Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with parents and school staff to facilitate the generalization of skills and empower students towards communicative independence.
- Participate in various meetings focused on student needs, including problem-solving, eligibility evaluations, and individualized education program discussions.

Observational Duties:
- Observe student interactions in natural settings to integrate findings and address barriers to participation in educational activities.
- Collaborate with educational teams to establish goals and interventions within specified timelines.

Professional Development:
- Attend relevant conferences and contribute to the training of educational personnel.
- Engage with families and external agencies as necessary.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records regarding services provided, workload, student progress, and material needs.
- Analyze performance data to identify gaps between educational expectations and student outcomes.

Qualifications:
- A master's degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from an accredited institution recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation of ASHA is required for all levels.

Experience Requirements:

Specialized Experience:

Licensure Requirements:
- For levels III and IV, a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and a valid State of Hawaii Speech Pathologist license are mandatory.

Driver's License:
- A current, valid driver's license is required.

Quality of Experience:
- Experience must reflect the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position effectively.

Temporary Assignments:
- Temporary positions may be extended based on funding and departmental needs, with potential pathways to permanent roles.
