You are comfortable with hands-on tasks, which may include assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene (bathing, toileting, grooming), mobility, meal preparation, dressing, light cleaning, and other household duties.

While you don’t need to be a master chef, you can prepare nutritious meals and navigate a kitchen.

You will also perform other assigned tasks as directed by a nurse for specific clients, which may include:

  • Changing non-sterile dressings
  • Assisting with mobility aids (cane, walker, wheelchair)
  • Helping with prescribed range of motion exercises
  • Assisting with self-administered urine tests (without interpreting results)
  • Preparing special diets
  • Monitoring intake and output
  • Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
  • Applying external catheters
  • Training caregivers
  • Covering shifts in the field to ensure client care continuity

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Minimum six months of experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in healthcare settings and successful completion of a state-approved CNA course
  • Completion of a competency evaluation that meets state licensing requirements for home health agencies
  • Compassionate attitude towards patient care and ability to manage job demands effectively
  • Current CPR certification is preferred
  • Easy-going, flexible, with a good sense of humor and ability to connect with diverse individuals
  • Meets requirements for direct patient care roles
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English as necessary for the job
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for work purposes
