About this OpportunityThis part-time instructor position is established to collect a robust candidate pool for potential openings in the Sociology discipline at CSN. If a position becomes available, the hiring department will review applicant materials and invite select candidates for interviews based on their qualifications.
No minimum course load is guaranteed, and teaching assignments are contingent upon factors such as student enrollment and department needs. Reimbursement for travel expenses is not provided, and there is no guarantee of continued or future part-time and/or full-time employment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCandidates will teach live, on-campus courses in the Sociology curriculum, supporting the Associate of Arts Degree and General Education requirements for other degree programs. Courses will primarily consist of introductory level (Soc 101) classes, although others may be available based on departmental needs.
- Maintain records, submit grades, and communicate with department and college personnel using established protocols.
- Develop syllabi and course materials in accordance with college policy.
- Teach course objectives and utilize the department-selected textbook.
- Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.
- Provide students with syllabi meeting college, department, and program requirements.
- Effectively evaluate student performance while meeting assessment guidelines.
- Communicate with students in a timely manner.
- Complete Assessment assignments.
This position offers a competitive salary of $925.00 per credit hour, with credits varying by semester.
This part-time position is exempt from overtime pay, and schedules are subject to change based on organizational needs.
Requirements and QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity, applicants must possess a Master's Degree in Sociology or 18 graduate hours in Sociology and a master's degree in a related field.
Preferred qualifications include experience teaching College Sociology or related courses, familiarity with CANVAS or other learning management systems, and proficiency in basic computer software.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing situations.
