Substitute Teacher

As a Substitute Teacher with the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, you will play a vital role in supporting the education and formation of students in the Catholic intellectual and moral tradition. • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Act as a witness to the Gospel by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and all policies of the Diocese and Schools
• Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives, based on adopted curriculum and submitted according to the local school policy
• Provide appropriate materials and resources for students to engage in learning
• Use effective Classical instructional methods/models
• Use varied formative and summative assessments
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policy
• Form students in Virtue through positive classroom management, consistent procedures, and just discipline
• Proactively communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, or safety concerns
• Meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and School administration
• Exemplify Professionalism and Virtue
• Follow an established work schedule ensuring availability, as needed, to the school, students, and staff
• Responsible for all other projects, tasks, committees, etc. as assigned

• Bachelor's degree or related experience
• Meets the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCBED
• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
• Knowledge of subjects taught, instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation in target languages
• Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior
• Able to manage student behavior in classroom and school setting
• Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form in both language(s)
• Able to work well with others in the school community
• Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Skill in pacing and differentiating instruction
• Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process
• Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format
• Skill in job appropriate technology
• Skill in critical thinking and planning

Required to work some nights and weekends

Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress

Required to teach an assigned schedule

Required to work in standard classroom and school conditions

Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, and equipment

Required to maintain composure and a professional attitude in all situations at all times

Required to perform the standard activities of a classroom environment

Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading

Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather

Minimal travel, as needed by automobile or bus, may be required throughout the school year for school-sponsored activities
