Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our surgical team at Albany Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our surgical services.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with complex surgical needs, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians, primary nurses, and other healthcare providers to provide comprehensive, family-centered care.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
  • Conduct patient assessments, complete physical examinations, and collect clinical data, including vital signs and laboratory results.
  • Administer medications, perform minor surgery, and order medical laboratory tests as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and Albany Medical Center policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of best practices and evidence-based care.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of New York.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Ability to quickly master computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
