Job Summary

Aveanna Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with direct care and daily living activities, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Support students with instructional activities, including reviewing assignments, simplifying instructions, and providing redirection and prompting as needed.
  • Assist with housekeeping tasks in the classroom, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Tend to the personal needs of students, including toileting, hygiene, and medical needs.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure that students receive specially designed instruction.
  • Collect and record data as assigned by the teacher or administrator, including behavior charts, daily logs, and progress monitoring.
  • Communicate with students' families, teachers, and administration, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional boundaries.
  • Accompany students on field trips, to activities outside of the classroom, and during transitions.
  • Assist related services therapists and teachers as needed during therapy sessions.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Registration or certification as required by state law and regulation.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pediatric and adult experience as appropriate for the patient.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to travel; company does not provide vehicles or transportation.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Ability to sit and climb stairs.
  • Visual and hearing acuity.
  • Strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Ability to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment, including grasping and manipulating small objects.
Work Environment
  • Ability to function in a wide variety of environments, including exposure to allergens and other conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
