Pipe Foreman

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to join our team at J R Davis Construction Company, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation of underground utility pipelines for water, sewer, and drainage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of pipe crews on major civil construction projects.
• Direct and operate heavy equipment to excavate, install, and backfill large pipe and culvert.
• Inspect work sites to determine sequencing and method of pipe installation and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
• Maintain crew safety and enforce company policies.
• Plan drain pipe installation to reduce interference with other project activities and traveling public.
• Establish a safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards and company safety program.
• Comply with federal, state, and company environmental policies.
• Observe and operate assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions.
• Inspect work to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules.
• Use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels, and transit levels to set appropriate grade for pipe installation.
• Review employee timecards via HeavyJob.
• Production and planning of all types of pipe installation.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Five years' experience working in heavy DOT underground utility.
• Minimum 2 years' experience supervising installation of pipe/culvert on heavy civil jobs.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR.
• 3+ recent years' experience working as a working Pipe Foreman.

Work Environment:

Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity, and is exposed to uneven surfaces and natural terrain. Frequently works near moving mechanical machinery, and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May be required to travel, work away from home for extended periods, and work occasional nights and weekends.
