About the Role:

As a RN Nurse Preceptor with Humana Inc., you will play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare by mentoring and guiding new clinicians in their journey to become skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Clinical Guidance: Offer practical clinical experience and guidance to field clinicians, including orientation of new clinicians, to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable licensure/certification requirements, healthcare standards, governmental laws and regulations, and CenterWell Home Health policies, procedures, and philosophy of care.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate the company's Mission, Vision, and Values through behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Develop Clinical Skills: Observe clinical skills and patient interaction of new clinicians and provide feedback to help them improve.
  • Review Clinical Documentation: Work with clinicians to review application of clinical documentation and forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Teach and Mentor: Review Orientation Module content with new clinicians to determine their level of understanding and re-educate as necessary.
  • Assess Patient Care Processes: Review patient care processes with clinicians and assess their level of understanding, making recommendations related to training and skills development to the Branch Director.
  • Meet with Orientees: Meet with Orientees on a regular basis to assess their progress and provide guidance and support.
  • Conduct Supervisory Visits: Conduct 60-day supervisory visits for Orientees and discuss results with the Manager of Clinical Practice.
  • Participate in Teaching and Training: Participate in teaching and training of paraprofessional healthcare staff as assigned and act as a resource to other healthcare personnel.
  • Mentor New Clinical Hires: Serve as a mentor to new clinical hires, including regular discussions each month for a minimum of one year.
  • Conduct Skill Labs: Conduct a minimum of two skill labs per year.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature, sharing information only when the recipient's right to access is clearly established and sharing of such information is in the best interest of the patient.
  • Enhance Clinical Practice Skills: Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills by attending, participating in, and conducting staff development and continuing education programs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with one year of experience in the area of specialty or desired practice.
  • Licensure: Current unrestricted licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) to which assigned and current CPR certification required.
  • Physical Ability: The candidate must have the physical ability to perform job-related duties, which may require lifting, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, and pulling with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Health Examination: A health examination must be successfully completed prior to assignment and periodically thereafter, as required by company policy and/or state regulations, to verify that the individual is physically capable of performing assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Pre-Employment Competency Testing: Successful completion of any/all Company required pre-employment competency testing and health clearance prior to assignment and periodically as required by Company policy and state regulations.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Good organizational and communication skills and the ability to function with minimal supervision also required.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills are also required.
