Anesthesia Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

Anesthesia Technicians play a vital role in the Anesthesiology Department at Albany Medical Center. They are responsible for preparing and maintaining anesthesia supplies and equipment, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow for the anesthesia care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory of anesthesia machines, carts, and supplies, ensuring accurate labeling and organization.
  • Differentiate between various anesthesia machines and their capabilities, limitations, and special applications.
  • Anticipate the needs of anesthesia providers based on location and procedure type.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff on case and room turnover, ensuring a seamless transition between procedures.
  • Perform routine room setup and cleaning, adhering to infection control policies and sharps safety guidelines.
  • Assist with Anesthesia Delivery Systems, Equipment, Instrumentation, and Technology, and other departmental tasks as needed.

Requirements:

Anesthesia Technicians must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They must also be knowledgeable about anesthesia equipment, supplies, and procedures, as well as infection control and safety protocols.

Work Environment:

Anesthesia Technicians work in a hospital setting, primarily in the Anesthesiology Department. They may be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
