Unit Focus: The 4 West unit specializes in cardiac telemetry, dedicated to the care of critically ill adult patients with diverse medical conditions. Our dedicated team is committed to managing chronic illnesses and treating acute health issues, striving to deliver safe, dependable, and high-quality care to our community. We actively support professional development for nurses and provide training in ACLS and arrhythmia/EKG interpretation. The RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with assignments based on patient acuity, and a PCA ratio of 1:8. Our mission is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital: As the largest facility within DMC, we offer a comprehensive range of services including a heart center, cancer treatment, geriatric care, emergency services, obstetrics/gynecology, and cosmetic procedures. Our innovative joint replacement program features minimally invasive knee and hip surgeries, attracting patients nationwide. Sinai-Grace operates over 21 outpatient care locations and ambulatory surgery centers across multiple counties and is recognized nationally for setting standards in cardiac care.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is an integral member of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of nursing care by the nursing staff. The RN oversees and administers patient care activities for a designated group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with all team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, education, and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers.

• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.

• Assign and oversee patient care activities performed by team members.

• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.

• Report directly to senior unit management and engage in shared decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

2. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

3. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan is required.

4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
