Job Summary

DePaul Senior Living Community is seeking a skilled Medication Technician to join our team of dedicated care providers. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely administration of prescribed medication and treatment to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medication and treatment to residents in a safe and timely manner.
  • Document medication and treatment administration as per policy and procedures.
  • Observe and document resident response to medication and treatment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
  • Order and manage medication and supplies for residents.
  • Process physician orders and transcribe orders to the Medication Administration Record.
  • Ensure the security of controlled substances and maintain accurate record-keeping.
  • Practice infection control techniques and employ universal precautions when preparing and administering medication.
  • Perform resident care duties as described in the Resident Care Assistant position description.
  • Participate in required medication in-service education.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff in English.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to visually observe residents.
  • Ability to audibly hear call bells, emergency systems, and verbal needs expressed by residents.
  • Ability to turn, stoop, bend, and stretch to assist residents.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to manipulate equipment such as sphygmomanometers, Accucheck, and thermometers.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Must pass the Medication Technician training provided by DePaul within 90 days of Medication Skills Checklist.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs population.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the required references and criminal record check.
  • Must be in good standing with the Healthcare Personnel Registry.
  • Must have the required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment in accordance with New York State Regulations.
