Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Monitors and evaluates application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies feasible solutions, and collaborates with developers to implement those remedies.
  • Enhances software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency to ensure an optimal user experience.
  • Collects all system engineering requirements for infrastructure components by engaging with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
  • Leads multiple project teams of software systems engineers responsible for all phases of design and development for intricate products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
  • Manages and nurtures relationships with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design and development.
  • Reviews and assesses designs and project activities for adherence to systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides constructive feedback to enhance product quality and mitigate failure risks.
  • Offers domain-specific expertise and overall leadership in software systems to cross-organizational projects, programs, and activities.
  • Promotes innovation and the integration of new technologies into projects and activities within the software systems design organization.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to less-experienced staff members.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience demonstrating competence.
  • Typically possesses 7-10 years of professional experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional experience with C++ programming language (version 11 and above), comfortable with a codebase exceeding 400,000 lines of code distributed across several repositories, and proficient in dependency injection, mocking, and creating unit-testable code.
  • Experienced with Visual Studio 2022 IDE.

Compensation
The compensation reflects the labor costs across various U.S. geographic markets, with variations based on defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $211,000 annually, with additional opportunities for bonuses and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
