Physician Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Wellpath, providing medical care and treatment to the inmate population in a correctional facility. As a Physician Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of a Health Services Administrator or higher medical professional, assisting the Physician in providing medical care and treatment to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily sick call, carry out treatments, and follow standardized procedures and protocols.
- Provide emergency care for identified medical emergencies and coordinate patient transfers to appropriate facilities.
- Perform minor surgical procedures, repair lacerations, and remove sutures.
- Treat and manage non-psychotic behavioral health disorders and provide ongoing care for patients on maintenance doses of non-psychotic medications.
- Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities, document findings using the S.O.A.P.E. method, and attend quarterly Quality Management meetings.
Requirements
- Completion of a master's program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
- Previous correctional/detention facility experience
- Minimum two (2) years' experience
- Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
