About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Loan Specialist to join our Loan Operations team at UMortgage. As a Loan Specialist, you will play a critical role in originating and processing mortgage loans, providing exceptional customer service, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Educate Borrowers: Provide expert guidance to potential borrowers on various mortgage products, helping them select the best options for their financial situation.
  • Document Collection: Collect and review borrower financial documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness for submission to our Operations team.
  • Loan Evaluation: Assess borrower loan applications, credit history, and financial data to determine loan eligibility and make informed decisions.
  • Pre-Approval Calls: Schedule and conduct in-depth pre-approval calls with potential borrowers, providing personalized support and guidance.
  • Follow-up and Updates: Conduct regular follow-ups with pre-approved borrowers to check on their home shopping progress and provide timely updates.
  • Loan Submission: Submit fully completed loan applications and required documentation to our Operations team, ensuring seamless processing.
  • Loan Registration: Register and lock loan files with various lenders, sending necessary disclosures and coordinating with lenders as needed.
  • Third-Party Orders: Place and follow up on all necessary third-party orders, such as appraisals, titles, and HOI reports.
  • Underwriting and Coordination: Submit TBD underwrites as needed, working with lenders to resolve scenarios and ensure timely loan processing.
  • Communication and Updates: Provide consistent, real-time updates and proactive communication with internal and external parties, including borrowers, referral partners, Loan Originators, and Operations team members.
  • Service Level Agreements: Meet or exceed our service level agreements (SLAs) for turnaround time between all internal and external clients.
  • Core Values and Customer Service: Embody our company's core values and consumer-centric model, delivering superb customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Knowledge and Training: Maintain detailed and up-to-date knowledge on lenders, products, guidelines, and processes, staying ahead of industry developments.
Requirements
  • NMLS License: Hold an active NMLS license.
  • Loan Experience: Possess a minimum of 50 units done in the last 12 months as a Processor, Loan Originator Assistant, or primary Loan Originator on file.
  • Availability: Be available to work weekends and after-hours, as needed.
  • Local Presence: Be local to Sacramento.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate superb analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and structure loan files effectively.
  • Customer Service and Communication Skills: Possess excellent customer service, listening, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and referral partners.
  • Team-Oriented and Adaptable: Be team-oriented, adaptable, and accountable, with a strong attention to detail and time management skills.
