The role of the Caregiver/Medication Technician involves delivering hands-on assistance and emotional support to residents while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Caregiver Duties:

• Accountable for a specific group of residents during shifts, ensuring their well-being through regular checks.
• Monitor, report, and document any changes in residents' conditions, including physical and behavioral observations.
• Respond promptly to security alerts and resident requests.
• Inform supervisors and/or Health Care Coordinators of any increased care requirements for residents.
• Assist with continence management while maintaining sanitation standards.
• Serve and collect food trays, noting any refusals or appetite changes.
• Maintain cleanliness in residents' rooms and communal areas.
• Adhere to hygiene and health protocols to ensure resident safety.
• Support residents in daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Engage residents in enriching activities to promote their well-being.
• Provide assistance to all visitors, including family members and team members.
• Handle resident laundry as required.

Medication Technician Responsibilities:

• Review service plans to gather essential information about residents.
• Assist and observe medication administration while adhering to the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
• Document medication administration accurately, including refusals or missed doses.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information and medications.
• Report any concerns raised by residents during medication assistance to the Nurse or Health Care Coordinator.
• Restock the medication cart following medication passes.
• Participate in the medication verification process.
• Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
• Ensure the Medication Room and related areas are clean and organized.
• Follow procedures for medication refills.
• Contribute to the development and updates of Service Plans.
• Record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
• Report any occupational exposure incidents immediately.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Preferred certification as a Nurse's Aide.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.
