POSITION SUMMARY

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for preparing and administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, in accordance with established departmental procedures and standards.

This position provides clinical support to the Radiation Oncology Department, ensuring the highest quality patient care by providing emotional support to patients and complying with established procedures and standards.

This role supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
A graduate of an accredited radiation therapy school is required.

LICENSE/

CERTIFICATION:
A Radiation Therapy Technologist license by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection is required. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is also required, with unrestricted therapy credentials. HSCPR certification is also required.

EXPERIENCE:
A member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, continuing education program is required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred at the time of hire; incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately, and then the skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from the date of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.


Requires the ability to position patients and utilize good body mechanics.

The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership.
