- Working under general oversight, these nurses apply the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in alignment with established healthcare philosophies.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential to ensure optimal patient care and to achieve favorable health outcomes.
- This role reports directly to the unit supervisor within the healthcare facility.
- Gather comprehensive patient histories and current symptoms, coordinating with healthcare professionals to formulate, execute, and assess patient care strategies.
- Conduct triage assessments, taking into account both physical and emotional health factors.
- Administer basic life support and stabilize patients until a physician is available, adhering to nursing protocols and standards.
- Monitor and document vital signs accurately.
- Assist physicians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications via various routes, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Report any adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with established policies.
- Provide intravenous therapy as required.
- Manage wound care, including cleaning and dressing injuries.
- Deliver essential bedside care to patients.
- Ensure the availability of necessary medical supplies and equipment for patient care.
- Report any suspected cases of abuse to the relevant authorities.
- Initiate and implement patient education plans as directed by a physician.
- Educate patients and their families on managing their conditions, including post-treatment care, nutrition, exercise, medication administration, and rehabilitation, while also providing referrals for additional healthcare services.
- Exhibit professionalism while managing multiple urgent tasks efficiently.
- Document all patient care information accurately and promptly in the appropriate formats.
- Demonstrate proficiency in recognizing life-threatening dysrhythmias and participate in emergency response teams.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a valid nursing license in good standing.
- At least one year of recent experience in a hospital trauma setting is required.
- Current certifications in AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS are mandatory.
- Additional professional certifications such as TNCC and NIHSS are preferred.
