Job Summary:Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a sociology position at the rank of Adjunct Professor within the Division of Social Sciences.
Responsibilities:- Teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate sociology courses, particularly those required in the University Core area and including those particular to the candidate's area of expertise.
- Provide committee service to the division, the college and the university.
- Engage in professional development activities, including serving in roles that advance the candidate's standing with professional organizations and with the community at large.
- Keep records, post grades (mid-term & final), submit attendance reporting, and mentor/advise students.
- Attend University-sponsored activities, such as general student assembly, student recruitment fairs, graduation convocations, and the like.
- Perform other duties as assigned by division head.
- Master's in sociology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- More than one year of experience teaching sociology courses at the college level.
- Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Admissions functions of higher education.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach online courses, using the various modes of delivery that the university requires.
