Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our team in Tualatin, OR. As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting visual and dimensional inspections to ensure that parts meet specifications and tolerances.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a precision machine shop environment, with the ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). You will also be proficient in basic shop and measurement math, including linear measurement, metrics, algebra, and geometry.

Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints to understand required measurements, materials, and tolerances
  • Ensure parts are produced according to these blueprints and verify specifications
  • Receive and adhere to Quality Plans provided by quality engineers and examine material(s) or product(s) for surface defects or any flaws
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances
  • Check for defects such as cracks, burrs, or improper finishes that could affect part functionality or customer perception of product value
  • Approve finished products, conduct visual and measurement tests, return products for re-work, confirm re-work materials for workmanship and conformance to quality plan
  • Perform corrective actions, internal audits, first article, in-process, and final inspection on assemblies
  • Initiate and complete all quality-related records and documents with minimal supervision
  • Perform precision surface plate and CMM inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials
  • Construct complex inspection set-ups and perform required inspections to determine product acceptance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent
  • Experience in a precision machine shop environment
  • Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Ability to interpret variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in basic shop and measurement math, including linear measurement, metrics, algebra, and geometry
  • Familiarity with ISO documentation and processes is a big plus
  • Experience CMM programming with Zeiss and Mitutoyo MCOSMOS is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Estimated salary: $24-$30/hour (based on experience)
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Employees on 2nd shift receive an additional 10% differential towards their pay
