Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Natural Gas Construction Supervisor is responsible for leading the crew in executing daily operations related to the installation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and/or joint trench utilities for power and telecommunications in a safe and efficient manner. This role supervises crew safety and productivity, overseeing the installation and pressure testing of both mainline and service line gas piping, as well as conducting routine safety inspections and documentation. The supervisor collaborates with the Line team and engages with clients, senior management, and personnel from other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee crew activities to install natural gas pipelines using open-cut or directional drilling methods.
- Secure all necessary licenses, permits, and materials for each project.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and timelines, taking full responsibility for project outcomes.
- Delegate daily tasks to crew members related to excavation and installation.
- Facilitate access to site buildings for work crews and coordinate utility calls at each project location.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections to promote safe work practices.
- Complete all required paperwork promptly.
- Train new hires and apprentices in the trade.
- Track employee hours and submit for payroll in a timely manner.
- Ensure existing utilities are properly identified and exposed, confirming that installations meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Operate equipment to assist crews in completing work efficiently.
- Maintain project timelines, perform site clean-up, and restore job sites upon completion.
- Communicate effectively with clients and inspectors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in gas pipeline construction or maintenance.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Possession of a Class A CDL.
- OSHA 10 certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience in gas pipeline construction.
- Operator Qualification (OQ).
- Pipe fusion certification.
- DOT Flagger certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting, including lifting up to 50 pounds. The role involves working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

This position is physically active and requires the ability to bend, lift, and carry. Clarity of vision at varying distances, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are essential.
