Job Title: MRI Technologist-Prn

Join the University of Maryland Medical System as an MRI Technologist-Prn and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist-Prn is responsible for performing a variety of MRI procedures to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform MRI procedures to ensure technical accuracy and patient safety
  • Verify patient identity and review requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnosis and demographic information
  • Assess patient condition and ensure proper radiation safety practices
  • Insert, maintain, and discontinue Heparin lock or IV access devices as required by patient condition
  • Administer IV contrast media and perform phlebotomy as needed
  • Review examinations for technical accuracy and present to radiologists via Teleradiology
  • Process patients through the Meditech system to ensure proper documentation and billing information
  • Participate in expense control initiatives and take an active role in the education of students assigned to this individual
  • Report safety hazards and/or MRI equipment malfunctions to appropriate supervisors immediately
  • Maintain proper stocking and cleanliness of MRI rooms
  • Participate in the MRI Section On-Call schedule
  • Establish and maintain a good rapport and working relationship with departmental staff, hospital staff, patients, families, physicians, and hospital visitors
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology School
  • Registered by the ARRT and licensed by the state of Maryland
  • Up to one year of radiographic and one month of MRI experience following graduation from an approved school
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a well-lit and ventilated environment with possible exposure to ionizing radiation.

Additional Information:

This is a PRN position working Monday through Friday, days/evenings.
