About the Department:
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages plays a vital role in the most diverse university in Virginia, offering a comprehensive selection of fifteen foreign languages alongside a broad array of courses in language, literature, film, and translation, catering to both introductory and advanced levels. Our faculty is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity through excellence in research, teaching, and community service. The vibrant Russian program at Mason provides opportunities for a minor in Russian language, study abroad programs, and various scholarship options. This program is also a key component of the interdisciplinary B.A. Program in Russian and Eurasian Studies.
About the Position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Russian language courses across all undergraduate levels, in addition to courses in Russian literature, translation, film, and media. Responsibilities will also include maintaining regular office hours, engaging in curricular development for the Russian program, and participating in departmental service and extracurricular activities.

Terminal degree in a relevant field; A Ph.D. in Russian Literature, Film and Media, Linguistics, or a closely related field at the time of appointment; Native or near-native proficiency in Russian.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching Russian at the undergraduate level; Demonstrated interest in teaching courses that incorporate historical perspectives on Russian language and literature, as well as those addressing issues of empire, socio-economic and cultural diversity, film, and new media; Familiarity with curriculum design; Demonstrated interest in mentoring students and supporting student activities; Interest in developing and implementing online courses, along with integrating technology into the classroom.Instructions to Applicants:
