Responsibilities

As a Logistics Broker, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the loading and unloading of freight to meet customer service requirements
  • Negotiating rates with third-party carriers to ensure optimal pricing
  • Building and maintaining a strong network of reliable carriers
  • Utilizing various methods to locate third-party carriers that match Prime's freight movement needs
  • Preparing loading and unloading plans for drivers
  • Informing drivers of loading locations, dates, and times
  • Monitoring the status of loads continuously
  • Maintaining customer service requirements
  • Practicing punctuality and efficiency in completing all assigned tasks
  • Completing continuing training as directed by management
  • Practicing Company Core Values
  • Performing related work as required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to execute logical decisions quickly
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Good computer and keyboarding skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work at least 48 hours per week and be on-call if issues with the fleet arise

Experience, Education, and Training

Prior brokering experience or a four-year college degree in Logistics or a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

You will need to be able to sit for a large portion of the day and multitask, talk on the telephone for extended periods, and type efficiently.

Working Environment

The majority of your work will be done in a general office environment with regulated heating and cooling.
