Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Arlington, Virginia.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Respiratory Therapist to administer basic and advanced respiratory care therapeutics and diagnostic services with skill and proficiency. The ideal candidate will integrate knowledge, skills, and experience to promote optimum patient care, utilizing standards, guidelines, protocols, and pathways for optimal care delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic clinical assessments of the cardiopulmonary system with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Administer advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions, such as heliox, nitric oxide, and chest wall oscillation, with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
  • Establish and manage basic mechanical ventilation with high proficiency and minimal supervision.
  • Perform weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
  • Review the need for continuing ventilator support and develop or refine ventilator care plans with a high degree of proficiency.
  • Formulate a plan of care for most patients based on patient diagnostics data, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles.
  • Establish and recommend therapeutic interventions with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
  • Collect specimens and perform basic diagnostic testing with moderate proficiency and minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Experience in a critical care environment or specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Education from an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
